MJO Information
The contents of the MJO text box (below the TCI links) depends on what Analysis Type is invoked.
- Anomaly: The text box displays the two-digit MJO index. The first digit is
the phase (1,2,3,...8) and the second digit displays the amplitude (1,2,3), where amplitude
1 is the weakest amplitude.
- Correlation: Since the MJO index is not a continuously varying index (as all others
are), the correlation of the MJO index with atmospheric fields is not applicable.
- Composite:t. Under this Analysis Type, the single digit displayed in the text
box is zero if the amplitude=1 (weak). If the TCI strength is Hi/Lo 10%, then the
digit displayed is the phase if and only if the amplitude=3 (strong). If the TCI strength
is Hi/Lo 25%, then the digit displayed is the phase if amplitude >=2 (moderate and strong).
A checkbox occurs only if a historical MJO index matches phase and amplitude (>1) of
the current (Analysis Date) phase and amplidude.
- Analog_yrs. Under this Analysis Type, both phase and amplitide are shown as the 2-digit
integer. When selecting a range of MJO indices, the first digit of the minimum is the beginning
phase limit, whereas the first digit of the maximum is the ending phase limit. The second digit of
the minimum and maximum are the minimum and maximum strengths, respectively. For example to
consider all strengths of the MJO in phases 6,7,8,1,2, the text box entry would be "60,23".
For phases 2,3,4,5,6, the text box entry would be "20,63".
